The Faith Lutheran School was built at the expense of expanding the sanctuary in 1984. The Sanctuary was expanded shortly afterward by deleting classrooms on each side along the columns as seen in the plan above. After the sanctuary was expanded, incremental building programs have been completed since the expansion of the sanctuary. The following is a list of problems with the existing sanctuary:
Acoustics do not complement the musical programs.
The choir loft is inadequate for the music programs.
The ceiling is too low (acoustical issues).
There is a lack of a transcendent, mystical, feeling.
The existing sanctuary is too crowded when school parents are invited.
Too wide to feel like a big family.
There is no direct access to the center aisle.
The columns present sight line problems.
There is no room for a pipe organ.
The narthex is not large enough.
The current entrance is not central enough.
Air conditioning and heating is not consistent and evenly distributed.
The narthex is too dark.
The sanctuary is too dark - not enough natural light.
Uniform lighting is needed.
Sacristy is inadequate.
Not enough storage space.
Physical separation between the Church and School.

There is currently no strong definition of the existing sanctuary.
Its mass is overpowered by the site and the existing school structures as seen from Park Boulevard.
